My job is to disturb you.

I don’t mean to disturb you mentally or emotionally, but rather to disturb your mindset. You must disturb the mindset that brought you to competent in order to become elite.

A micromanager who thinks, “I get sucked in by the daily haphazards of my job,” is rarely going to have time to delegate. He needs to be disturbed to see that getting sucked in is a choice, not the inherent nature of his job.

An organizational culture believes, “Meetings are a necessary evil that gets in the way of real work getting done.” This mindset needs to be disturbed where meetings occur as vital occasions for learning and skill building to take place.
